Mechanical Fitter Learnership

Application Closing Date: 25 September 2026

Problem Solver and Technical Thinker

We are looking for people to join our engineering team through a Mechanical Fitter Learnership.

This programme is for people who are hands-on, curious about how machines work, and want to build a real trade. As a learner mechanical fitter, you’ll work alongside experienced fitters and engineers to assemble, install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery — skills used every day by:

  • Production teams to keep machines running
  • Engineers and technicians during machine builds, installs, and commissioning
  • Maintenance teams to keep equipment safe and reliable

Previous mechanical or workshop experience is advantageous but not essential.

What matters most to us is your attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

We believe in the principle:

“Appoint for attitude and train the aptitude.”

If you naturally enjoy taking things apart to see how they work, solving practical problems, and working with your hands, we would like to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn to assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment under the guidance of qualified fitters
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
  • Learn to safely and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Support machine installation, commissioning, and breakdown/fault-finding
  • Take part in structured on-the-job training and formal learnership assessments
  • Work closely with fitters, artisans, electricians, engineers, programmers and production staff
  • Follow safe work practices and keep your work area organised

We’re Looking for Someone Who

  • Has excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoys hands-on, practical problem solving
  • Thinks logically and systematically
  • Takes pride in producing neat, accurate work
  • Is self-motivated and eager to learn a trade
  • Is physically able to carry out workshop and on-site tasks
  • Communicates well with others
  • Can stay focused and careful when working on detailed technical tasks
  • Takes safety seriously

What We’re Really Looking For

The ideal candidate is not necessarily the person with the most qualifications or experience.

We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys understanding how things work, takes pride in doing accurate work, and sees technical challenges as opportunities rather than problems.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
