MECHANICAL DESIGNER (Canton, Ohio, USA)

1. Reporting structure:

1.1 Mechanical Designer will report to the Managing Director.

2. Subordinates:

None

3. Liaises with:

3.1. Internal: Managers and colleagues.

3.2. External: Suppliers and customers.

4. Qualification and Experience:

4.1. Must have 5 years of CAD 3D (Solidworks or similar 3D) design experience – Design, Assembly and Drafting of complex assemblies.

4.2. Knowledge and use of PDM/PLM systems would be advantageous.

4.3. A tertiary technical qualification would be advantageous buy not compulsory.

4.4. Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

4.5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

5. Working Environment:

5.1. The ability to work under pressure is important.

5.2. The ability to multitask.

5.3. Ability to interact with different people daily.

6. Objectives/responsibilities/Key Performance area:

6.1. Design of automated machinery using 3D CAD (Solidworks) from conception through to issuing of manufacturing drawings.

6.2. Attention to detail and the ability to complete a job 100% accurately is a key requirement.

6.3. Candidate must have the ability to do new concept creation quickly, using hand sketches, whiteboard drawings or other means to capture and scale design intent quickly.

6.4. Research of components, materials, and processes to enhance machine designs and efficiency.

6.5. Working to business systems in line with ISO9001.

6.6. Contact suppliers for availability of components to ensure kitting schedules are met.

6.7. Place POR’s when necessary.

6.8. Machine building and assembly of parts when necessary.

6.9. Site commissioning if required.

6.10. Project management.

6.11. Willing to travel internationally.

7. General

7.1. Health, safety and environmental policies must be adhered to at all times.

7.2. All business system and procedures must be adhered to at all times.

7.3. Continuous improvement to ensure optimal efficiency, especially to ensure accurate and on delivery and feedback.

7.4. It may be required to assist with other areas of the business from time to time as defined by business needs and constraints that may arise, in order to ensure that business objectives are met.
