Clifford Welding Systems of South Africa and Ideal-Werk of Germany together produce innovative and technologically advanced machinery for the ferrous and non-ferrous wire industry. Their representation is world wide, Middle East, Russia, UK, South East Asia, USA and Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, China and Europe.

Since January 2004 Clifford was acquired by Ideal-Werk of Lippstadt. Together the two companies product ranges have combined engineering strengths and sharing of leading innovative product research between the two companies. Both companies are continually striving to supply reliable equipment to provide their customers with ever increasing turn around time for financial payback. This is due to a broader base of well established products catering more precisely to their customer’s exact requirements.

Clifford is located in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The plant has a 76000 sq.ft production facility, where most components are manufactured, assembled and tested as completed machines. The largest port in Southern Africa, Durban is located some 80km from the production facility. Most machines are containerised and shipped directly through the nearby port. Clifford exports approximately 90% of its products made in South Africa. Ideal’s products are also available in South Africa where there is a demonstration room to market and test the parent company’s products: Flash Buttwelders, Bandsaw Buttwelders, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous buttwelders.

Customer Support
Commissioning and service Engineers are available from South Africa, Europe and the USA. Clifford and Ideal provide effective support for customers; as a key aspect of a successful international machinery supply company. Clifford has a full time dedicated customer support person who in turn is assisted by suitably qualified engineers and technicians to provide technical backup and support for machines in the field.

Almost every machine shipped from Clifford has an integral modem and allows for a direct connection to a diagnostic controller at one of the service facilities to provide real time backup for machines in the field. Currently support is provided from South Africa, Europe and the USA.
